Idled ethanol plant to regain health in US

An ethanol plant in Texas, US is to restart operations after a seven month idle period.

White Energy claims the Plainview Ethanol facility will resume production before November and the company is holding job interviews over the summer. It hopes to be running at around 80% of its 325,000 gallons of ethanol a day capacity to begin with, before working up to full capacity before the end of 2013.

The reason behind the lack of production was placed on the severe corn drought of 2012, which was the plant’s main feedstock, but White Energy did manage to retain about a third of its workforce.

It is believed locally sourced sorghum and milo will now become the dominate feedstock of choice at the facility.
