Honeywell and TruAlt Bioenergy Limited today announced a strategic agreement to advance sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in India.
Under the partnership, TruAlt Bioenergy will deploy Honeywell UOP’s Ethanol-to-Jet (EtJ) process technology to produce 80,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of SAF, marking a key milestone toward establishing one of the country’s first dedicated ethanol-based SAF facilities.
The technology enables the conversion of renewable ethanol into SAF and renewable diesel, offering a cost-effective pathway to reduce carbon emissions from aviation and road transport. It can be integrated with existing ethanol production infrastructure, boosting efficiency and lowering capital risk.
“Honeywell’s Ethanol-to-Jet technology provides a practical and cost-efficient pathway for SAF production,” said Ranjit Kulkarni, vice-president and general manager, Honeywell Process Technology India. “This collaboration supports India’s net-zero ambitions and contributes to domestic biofuel self-reliance.”
Vijay Nirani, Managing Director of TruAlt Bioenergy, added that the project will help build a scalable, ethanol-based sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem that strengthens India’s energy transition while benefiting agricultural value chains.
The agreement aligns with national goals for cleaner energy and supports the expansion of SAF capacity to meet growing aviation decarbonisation demand.
