Greenleaf breaks ground on production plant
In New Haven, Connecticut, US, biodiesel producer Greenleaf Biofuels has broken ground on its biodiesel plant.
The plant, which has been designed to manufacture 10 million gallons a year of biodiesel, has been under development for five years and could be operational by Q2 2012.
Upon completion, a system from Greenline Industries will be installed, enabling the plant to include methanol recovery, distillation systems and cold filtering. Greenleaf Biofuels acquired this system from an auction and will upgrade it.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held next to New Haven Terminal's petroleum terminal.
An initial 20 jobs will become available when the plant comes online. This figure will grow as Greenleaf Biofuels expands its operations over time.
Munger Construction Co. is building the plant.
