GreenHunter biodiesel gets EPA approval

Texas-based GreenHunter Biofuels, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GreenHunter Energy, has received approval by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to sell GreenHunter Biodiesel to the on-road market in the US.

This approval by the EPA improves GreenHunter Energy’s biodiesel distribution capabilities in the US, and further enhances the company’s strategy of diversifying risk by distributing its products in multiple markets.

Previously, GreenHunter announced a distribution strategy that included selling biodiesel in the overseas markets as well as owning distribution assets in the marine market in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company plans to service those markets with biodiesel produced from its 105 million gallon a year biodiesel refinery in Houston, Texas, the largest in the country.

According to the Energy Information Administration, diesel consumption last year in the US was 4.2 million barrels a day, the highest ever.
