Fresno facility finds further funds for biodiesel production
US-based biodiesel producer Eslinger has been awarded a multi-million injection by the California Energy Commission (CEC).
Around $6 million (€4.5 million) from the CEC will go toward the building an animal fats and waste vegetable oils facility in Fresno, part of an overall $32 million refinery project.
‘Feedstock will come from restaurant and food industry waste, and “non-food” oilseeds,’ says company president Jeremy Eslinger.
Since completion of Phase 1, Eslinger is able to produce 5 million gallons of B100 per year as well as 1 million gallons of purified glycerin, which will also be available for sale.
The $32 million refinery is to be fully operational within 12 months of funding under the CEC’s Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology programme.
