Feedstock analysis for biofuels receives grant
Sugar analysis system developer Carbo Analytics (CA) has received one of 79 available grants from the US Department of Energy which will go towards the development of a biofuels sugar analysis system.
The grant came in at $150,000 (€115,000) and CA, in partnership with microwave digestion system provider CEM, will now start to prepare biomass samples. The end goal is to provide biofuel suppliers access to better quality feedstocks by being able to quckly and simply identify raw material potential in terms of sugar measurement.
‘These funds enable us to get the joint solution in the hands of biofuel operators even sooner. Coupling our technologies with CEM opens the door for the creation of products that will change the game for the assessment of raw materials in, not only the biofuels industry, but also brewing and foods and beverage industries,’ says CA chief technical officer Thomas Reilly.
