EPA approves QAP-A RIN replacement programme
As part of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA)new rules for RIN integrity, quality assurance providers (QAP) were required to submit details of their QAP-A replacement plans by 1 May.
Under the new Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), the QAP-A RIN provides an obligated party zero liability if the RIN is ever to be found invalid.
Real-time power information supplier Genscape’s QAP-A RIN replacement backstop was reviewed and approved by the EPA for an interim period. Genscape’s replacement mechanism is further backed by its multi-billion dollar parent company, Daily Mail and Group Trust (DMGT).
As the biodiesel industry evaluates the impact of the EPA’s NPRM, the demand for biodiesel A-RINs is increasing. Genscape reports that, as of early May, over 80 million A-RINs are stipulated in producer contracts and scheduled to be verified under the Genscape QAP programme.
Additionally, Genscape’s producer clients are seeing more sales opportunities for their RINs.
