Eco Global expands jatropha project
The company had initial targets of planting 100,000 hectares of jatropha, locally called tuba-tuba, but it has furthered its plans to expand to 200,000 hectares in the next two years.
Eco Global is attempting to convince members of local tribes to plant the feedstock in their 74,804-hectare ancestral lands in the town of Malungon.
Marc Gulle, Eco Global manager, said the firm’s long-term plan was to build a biodiesel plant, and that intensifying the expansion of jatropha plantations will complement this.
