E85 fuelling pumps boosted in US

California, US, is expected to increase the number of E85 fuelling stations and electric vehicle charging stations after receiving a $4 million (€3.3 million) grant.

75 new fuelling stations have been planned for the state, which are predicted to cut the use of petrol by over 24 million gallons annually and reduce the CO2 emissions by roughly 170,000 tonnes a year.

Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles have been approved a $3.4 million. The funds will go towards erecting 1,667 new electric charging stations in the three areas.

$3.3 million of this grant comes from the federal government while other partners will provide $508,000.

By boosting the number of recharging stations in these regions alone greenhouse gas emissions will be slashed by 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. 500,000 gallons of petrol will also be replaced.
