CropEnergies pilot project in Mannheim proves that Super E20 working well

The fuel has been tested extensively in a demonstration fleet, proving its suitability for everyday use.
Since opening, approximately 35,000 litres of E20 have been supplied, with no reported issues. The fuel is fully compatible with existing infrastructure.
It is blended and delivered by the mineral oil partner in the same manner as Super E10, requiring only an adjustment to the blending ratio at the fuel depot. According to the operator of the Oktan filling station in Mannheim, no technical modifications to the filling station infrastructure were necessary.
Authorities were comprehensively informed about the fuel type change at the E20 filling station, despite there being no legal obligation for the operator to do so.
Over 80 vehicles from multiple manufacturers are participating in the demonstration, with around 50 refuelling regularly with E20. BMW and Mercedes have approved almost all modern engines for E20, while Volkswagen AG vehicles are undergoing an official extension of use. This is documented within the Volkswagen Group to ensure legal coverage for warranty, guarantee and leasing considerations.
As the fleet sometimes refuels with a mix of E5 and E20, drivers have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback. Reported impressions include “more power,” “smoother running,” and “no noticeable increase in fuel consumption.”
The E20 initiative demonstrates a significant step forward in sustainable fuel adoption in Germany, combining innovation, compatibility, and real-world testing to support broader market implementation.
