CEC gives $43.6 million in awards to advanced biofuels projects
The California Energy Commission (CEC) has awarded $43.6 million (€32.4 million) to 11 biofuel projects that include petrol substitutes, diesel substitutes and biomethane plans.
These awards have been provided as a result of a grant solicitation released in January aimed at developing new or modifying existing California-based biofuel production facilities that can sustainably deliver low carbon transportation fuels.
Although the grant solicitation announced that a total of $24 million would be available for project funding, the Energy Commission has almost doubled this figure, a right it reserves at its sole discretion.
The CEC selected four diesel substitute projects for a total of $19,183,421 in funding. Crimson Renewable Energy is one of these and was chosen in May as the only company to receive an award in Round 1.
