Cargill begins work at corn wet mill ethanol facility
Multi-national company Cargill has begun operating its corn wet mill ethanol plant in Iowa, US.
It purchased the idled facility from global ingredients supplier Tate and Lyle back in 2011. The plant, according to Cargill, will provide the base load corn grind for the campus and will eventually support additional business growth in the future.
‘When full production capacity is reached, the plant will consume 150,000 bushels of corn a day and turn out five products including dextrose, ethanol and SweetBran feed for cattle,’ says Al Viaene, facility manager, Cargill corn milling North America.
The facility is believed to have a capacity of 115 million gallons a year.
