bp and Corteva launch biofuel feedstock joint venture

news item image

bp and US agriculture firm Corteva Agriscience have officially unveiled Etlas™, a new joint venture focused on producing sustainable, crop-based feedstocks for renewable fuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The venture will use crops such as canola, mustard and sunflower grown on existing farmland between food-crop seasons, helping to increase feedstock availability without expanding agricultural land use.

Initial supply is planned for 2027, with ambitions to scale feedstock production to around one million tonnes annually by the mid-2030s, potentially yielding more than 800,000 tonnes of low-carbon fuels per year.

bp’s integrated downstream capabilities and Corteva’s seed technology are intended to strengthen the biofuels value chain and support decarbonisation goals in transport sectors. Executive leadership positions in Etlas have been assigned from both companies, demonstrating joint commitment to the long-term development of sustainable biofeedstocks.
