BioSyn hopes to build biodiesel plant in Nebraska

Nebraska, US-based BioSyn is looking to build a biodiesel plant in Bellevue but the development is still in the very early stages; the company still needs approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The company would also need additional investors on board in order to fund the $100 million (€72 million) project.

If the build did go ahead, the plant would have the capacity to produce around 6,500 barrels a day of biodiesel.

Initially the facility would handle animal tallow and vegetable oils. However BioSyn does plant to expand the plant's capabilities. It would then be able to produce biofuel from switchgrass and other energy crops.
