Biomethane plant in Philippines edges closer

Philippines-based Aseagas, a joint venture between Gazasia and Aboitiz Equity Ventures, has allocated funds for the construction of a new liquid biomethane plant.

It is believed around $30 million (€22.6 million) has been earmarked for the project and building could commence this summer, mostly likely in Luzon where approximately 70% of the market is to be found.

The fruits of the project will be used for the transport sector according to Aseagas director Juan Alfonso, who adds that the company will also ‘recommend the use of new vehicles specifically designed to run on gas in the future’.

Uk-based Gazasia will supply the technical aspect of the project while Aboitiz will be the majority shareholder.
