Biofuel imports approved for Spanish port
This has been authorised Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
TEPSA, under this new agreement, will be allowed to import liquid animal by products from outside the EU directly through the Dependent Inspection Centre attached to the Border Control Point of Tarragona at the port itself, making the processes easier.
Previously such products could only be imported via a series of bureaucratic procedures. TEPSA Tarragona is the first terminal on Spain’s Mediterranean coast to receive the authorisation and only the second in Spain overall.
To qualify for the authorisation, TEPSA had to show that it had the appropriate infrastructure for the storage, inspection and traceability of the products, as the ministry needs to ensure the integrity of the goods.
TEPSA general manager Nuria Blasco says on LinkedIn that the authorisation is “great news for TEPSA Rubis Terminals, the Port and for the Mediterranean arc”.
