Biodiesel to become available in another Indian state
The first biodiesel pump in the state of Maharashtra, India is set to arrive by the end of the year.
It will be operated by My Eco Energy in the city of Pimpri-Chinchwad and the biodiesel is set to be produced via treated waste materials, including vegetable oils and animal fats.
Santosh Verma, a director of My Eco Energy, said during a media address: ‘A biodiesel plant will be set up via an investment of Rs 250 crore. With India being a signatory of the green fuel treaty, by next few years around 20% of the diesel usage will be replaced by biodiesel.’
Maharashtra is looking to join other states like Karnataka and West Bengal in leading the way in biodiesel consumption.
