Biodiesel shuttles at Texas airport
Airport shuttles at the San Antonio airport, Texas, US, are to join forces and power the vehicles on biodiesel.
The collaboration between the three rental car companies Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental will see a cut back from 16 to seven fleets, all of which will now run on a 20% biodiesel blend.
Enterprise Holdings owns and operates these three shuttle services and decided to combine them following the airport’s launch of a new two-tiered roadway in March this year, which was opened to relieve traffic congestion at the airport.
William Gold, VP and general manager of Alamo, Enterprise and National in San Antonio said: ‘Customers have reacted positively to the combined shuttles, noting the significance of our environmental efforts and the use of biodiesel in our buses.’
A comment by officials stated that the move will ease congestion and contribute towards cleaner air.
