Be8 unveils drop-in biofuel and targets European expansion
The company will exhibit at the Brazil Pavilion at the Hannover Messe 2026 event from April 20–24, where a Mercedes-Benz Actros used in technical validation tests of the product will also be displayed.
The vehicle was fuelled with Brazilian biofuel and underwent functional tests at the Daimler Truck proving ground in Wörth, Germany.
To analyse the engine and vehicle's behaviour in terms of power, torque, and driveability with the 100% Be8 BeVant® biofuel, tests were conducted.
In summary, the test in Germany confirmed approximately a 99% reduction in CO2equivalent in the tank-to-wheel concept when compared to fossil-based diesel, excluding biogenic emissions and in line with the GHG protocol. The results demonstrate that the Be8 BeVant® biofuel is a technically viable low-carbon alternative for decarbonising heavy transport.
Be8 BeVant® is a drop-in biofuel designed to fully replace fossil diesel without requiring changes to engines or existing fuel infrastructure, according to the company. It has been technically validated and is being marketed as a lower-cost alternative to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), also known as green diesel.
“Be8 is presenting a solution that is already available and economically viable, with performance comparable to HVO,” said Erasmo Carlos Battistella, the company’s president.
Be8 structures its entry into the European market through its manufacturing plant in Domdidier, Switzerland, and its office in Geneva, aligning itself with regional regulatory and certification standards.
Its initial strategy will focus on pilot projects, industrial partnerships and real-world testing in sectors where drop-in fuels can be deployed without infrastructure changes.
“The fuel has shown compatibility with modern engines and industrial systems under real operating conditions”, said Camilo Adas, the company’s director for energy transition.
