Arla Foods to reduce HGV emissions with biofuels
Gasrec, a European supplier of liquefied gas fuel to the transport sector, has opened a dedicated bio-LNG filling station at Arla Foods’ (AF) new £150 million (€183.5 million) dairy in the UK, which is set to become the country’s first zero carbon dairy.
The partnership is set to develop a strategy to introduce low emission bio-LNG fuel for AF’s heavy goods vehicle fleet across its European operations. The initiative supports AF’s UK logistics target of a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020 within the areas of production, transport and packaging.
AF plans to convert its entire fleet of vehicles to dual-fuel with the first 10 converted trucks running on bio-LNG this February. Gasrec will also provide refuelling station infrastructure at the site in Aylesbury matched to the number of trucks converted to use it.
