Another ethanol production plant opens in Iowa

Commodity merchant Louis Dreyfus Commodities has begun operation at its new 100 million gallon ethanol plant at Grand Junction, Iowa.

The new plant is the second ethanol plant opened this week in the state of Iowa, and will produce 100 million gallons of ethanol and 300,000 tonnes of distillers grains annually. A week ago Homeland Energy Solutions opened another new facility at New Hampton.

The state of Iowa is a leader in renewable fuels production, possessing 40 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons annually, and a further three ethanol refineries under construction will add nearly 500 million gallons of capacity.
