Alkagesta appoints biofuels trading desk lead
Malta-headquartered commodity trading house Alkagesta has promoted Anthony Guida to Biofuels Trading Desk Lead, recognising his role in establishing and scaling the company's biofuels division since its launch last year.

Guida brings a decade of energy markets experience, including roles at S&P Global Platts, Phillips 66, and PETRONAS, where he progressed from crude oil market analysis to overseeing strategy and business development across crude, biofuels, and carbon markets.

Since joining Alkagesta in January 2025, Guida has built out a trading operation spanning the full biofuels value chain, connecting niche feedstock and waste producers with Europe's mainstream biodiesel refiners, HVO and SAF producers, aggregators, and blenders.

Guida’s key achievements for the company have included securing a multi-year storage agreement at Pantank Antwerp and leading Alkagesta’s successful ISCC CORSIA certification in January 2026, enabling the company to trade and supply CORSIA-eligible sustainable aviation fuel.

This growth has been underpinned by Alkagesta’s investment in a UCO processing facility, which has seen equity barrel volumes increase from 734 to 1,860 tonnes, with the desk now trading used cooking oil, food-waste-derived oils, soapstock acid oils, and biodiesel, further strengthening Alkagesta’s position across the advanced biofuels value chain.

"I am delighted to accept this promotion. This is a significant milestone for me personally, and also reflects the progress we have made in establishing a certified, structured, and scalable biofuels trading platform. I am proud of what has been built in a short period of time, and I am committed to taking it to the next level," said Guida, who is based in Alkagesta’s Geneva office.
