Abengoa's biomass programme receives USDA support

In Kansas, US, Abengoa is developing a biomass to bioethanol plant, with support from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The project is one of four to receive funding from the Biomass Crop Assistance Program (BCAP).

Abengoa's project, planned for Hugoton, near to its existing biomass plant, will be able to produce 100 million litres of cellulosic ethanol and 20MW of renewable energy. The plant is due to start operations by Q4 2013, when it will provide jobs for around 100 people.

In total, the four new developments will create over 3,400 jobs.
