Ensyn to bring Georgia biofuel plant online by 2017

US-based biofuel plant company Ensyn will start producing renewable fuel from its biofuel plant in Georgia from January 2017.

Ensyn told local press that its Dooly County facility in Georgia will use 440 tonnes of wood tops and tree limbs to produce electricity and other fuels. It plans to produce 20m gallons of fuel ever year.

Terrell Hudson, the Dooly County Commission Chairman, told local news website WMAZ: "The investment for Dooly County is significant. With a county with under a $300m tax digest and a $100m (€91m) investment is a major investment for us, and we're proud to have that."

Ensyn is a producer of advanced, drop-in cellulosic biofuels that replace petroleum products. It has been operating for more than 25 years.

According to the firm, its technology has produced over 37m gallons of renewable fuels and chemicals from wood residues in more than 160,000 hours of "successful" unit operation, which is equivalent to nearly 18 years of continuous production.
