ZeaChem and P&G form joint venture

ZeaChem, a biorefineries developer, has formed a joint venture with Procter & Gamble (P&G), a consumer goods manufacturer.

The companies plan to further develop ZeaChem’s products, with the aim of commercialising its ‘drop-in’ bio-based chemicals and other products.

ZeaChem uses feedstocks such as poplar trees and agricultural residues to produce bio-refining technologies. The company is pioneering fermentation work to produce other bio-based chemicals, including drop-in fuels.

‘As part of its long-term environmental sustainability vision, P&G is committed to using 100% sustainably sourced renewable or recycled materials for all products and packaging,’ says Len Sauers, P&G's vice president for global sustainability.
