Two US biofuels associations born
NAABB will receive $44 million to develop a method for producing a sustainable supply of algal biofuel which can then be used for renewable petrol, diesel and jet fuel.
Led by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, NABC will be awarded up to $33.8 million.
The overall project investment will total more than $97 million after private cost-share funds invest over $19 million between these two consortiums.
‘This investment will help spur the creation of the domestic bio-industry, while creating jobs and reducing our dependence on foreign oil,’ said US Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu.
