The Ham biomass plan

A combined heat and power (CHP) plant fuelled on biomass will be built in the Belgian municipality of Ham.

Belgian renewable energy company 4Energy Invest’s unit 4HamCogen has signed a deal with Finland-based industrial machinery company Metso, which will supply the 30 million plant.

Metso will deliver the equipment via MW Power, its joint venture with fellow Finnish company Wartsila. Metso's Power business line will supply the automation system.

The CHP plant is scheduled to be operational in Q2 2011. It will use bubbling fluidised bed (BFB) technology. Via the plant, the Belgian company will feed 8.4 MW of electricity into the distribution grid and will be able to deliver up to 14 MW of heat.
