Thai venture to develop new biofuel catalysts
SCG Chemicals, an integrated petrochemical company in Thailand, has entered into a memorandum of understanding for research and development collaboration on the CAT-REAC Industrial Project with Chulalongkorn University and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), a state-sponsored fund that offers research grants and research management assistance. The MoU was also signed by founding partners from five private organisations.
The project’s goal is to develop 'catalyst-based' technology for the biofuel industries and to create technological developments that lead to sustainable competitive advantages for Thailand across an international setting.
The development of new catalysts is meant to benefit the production of high value-added products that will reduce import dependence and decrease industrial spending by over 100 million baht (€2.6 million).
