Taisei Corporation and Euglena introduce low carbon diesel alternative at university site

For the first time in Japan, this project will use construction machinery and vehicles powered by a diesel blend that significantly reduces CO₂ emissions—known as “light oil plus HVO”.
Specifically, a fuel containing 51% hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), branded as SUSTEO will be introduced.
This innovative fuel is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 50%.
Taisei is actively working towards “Zero Carbon Construction”, a long-term initiative aiming to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions from construction activities.
As part of this effort, the company is introducing various diesel alternatives to support decarbonisation in the construction industry.
The newly adopted HVO51% blend, developed by Euglena, has several key features.
This fuel is especially suitable for busy construction sites where vehicle use is intensive.
Among currently available diesel alternatives that comply with Japanese standards, the HVO51% blend offers one of the most effective means of reducing carbon emissions.
Its adoption enables significant progress toward decarbonisation, without compromising operational efficiency on-site.
