SAF – welcome aboard

As the demand for low carbon aviation fuels continues to grow in a world taking steps to decrease its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the main challenge faced by the aviation sector is to both to meet that demand and reduce its GHG emissions to net-zero by mid-century.
Along with most of the aeronautical companies involved in the CORSIA initiative, net-zero targets for aviation are now envisioned by national policies and also by financial institutions, private companies and customers. Alternative to conventional fossil jet fuel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is the main lever to achieve these goals and it creates an opportunity for refiners and energy companies to shift their core business into solutions in line with the energy transition.
The answer to these ambitious challenges and to ultimately meet the future demand for bio-based jet fuel does not rely on a single solution. It requires a combination of different technologies for every available feedstock around the world.
