REG bio-power raring to go
REG Bio-Power will start construction of a new oil processing facility at Hockwold in Norfolk, England.
This will allow REG Bio-Power to process around 15,000 tonnes of waste vegetable oil 100 a year, enough to operate around 15MW of renewable energy facilities. The cost of this project will be approximately £800,000 (€920,000) and will be funded from internal resources.
In December 2009 REG Bio-Power
entered a five-year contract with the Port of Dover to provide heat and electricity from its biofuel-fired combined heat and power system at the port. This will commence generation in Q1 2010.
As part of the contract electricity prices will remain the same for the first three years. REG Bio-Power will also install a 150kW Volvo Genset to supply a proportion of the Port of Dover’s annual heat and electrical demand, totalling 6-8 MW.
REG Bio-Power generated 2.78GWh of output during the first half of the year from its two operational plants at Hockwold and Bentwaters.
The business has continued to invest in research and development although this is expected to reduce in the second half of the year as the remaining units at the Bentwaters project become fully operational following completion of environmental permitting.
