Oilseed processing plant up for auction
In Miller, South Dakota, US, oilseed processing facility South Dakota Oilseed Processors is to be sold at auction by Maas Companies of Minnesota.
South Dakota Oilseed Processors began building the 25,536 square foot plant in 2007 before it came online in 2009. However, the facility closed in December 2010, citing market conditions.
Located on 22 acres of land, the defunct plant can handle 375 tonnes of soyabeans daily. It can also process sunflower and canola without the need for extensive retrofitting. The plant is within easy access to a major road and rail link.
Bids for the facility are being accepted up until 5pm (CDT) on 29 July 2011. After this time the winning bidder will be notified or the highest bidders may be given the chance to bid privately in August.
The equipment at the plant will be for sale at an online auction only between 22 July and 5 August.
'The sealed bid sale offers this plant to a new buyer at a significant savings over the approximate $19.5 million (€13.4 million) that was spent to design and build the facility,' says Tyler Maas, sales and marketing director for Maas.
