Novozymes to aid increased ethanol yields

Bioinnovation company Novozymes has designed two new enzyme technologies to increase ethanol and corn oil yields for improved profits.

Two new fermentation solutions will join with the company’s Avantec brand, which is an advanced yield-enhancing liquefaction solution. Results from industry-scale trials, which deployed all three technologies, could mean additional profits for ethanol plants.

‘We saw up close and personal how last year’s corn quality and prices negatively impacted our customers,’ says Novozymes bioenergy marketing manager Jack Rogers. ‘We’ve seen how even small improvements in ethanol yield can have a huge impact on profitability. Avantec delivers an average ethanol increase of 2.5% and energy savings of 2%.’
