New international agreement for biofuels yeast development
Yeast development company Microbiogen has signed a collaboration and license agreement with US-based renewable products company Amyris.
The agreement will see the Australian business focus on improving base yeast strains for the production of renewable fuels and other value added propositions.
‘This agreement between us is an excellent example of the sort of international and multi-technology collaboration that can make high order biofuels from non-food sources a reality faster,’ says Microbiogen CEO Geoff Bell. ‘Our entire team is excited about the possibilities that are opened up by the two companies working together.’
The agreement could see Microbiogen provide Amyris with certain base yeast strains with enhanced industrial properties to allow a greater number of natural biochemical pathways to be used in the production of Amyris’s renewable products.
