New bioethanol facility in Ukraine moving forward
Construction of a new bioethanol facility has begun this January in the Ukraine via research and development company Zarya.
The project is reported to cost UAH470 million (€41.4 million) and will produce bioethanol with an ethanol concentration of 99%. The facility will provide carbon dioxide and DDGS as by-products.
‘Researchers have studied both bioethanol production methods and the progress of relevant technologies used in both European and American countries to choose, what they believe, is the most advanced bioethanol technology for this facility,’ says Alexey Bashkir, head of chemical industry administration for the Ukraine ministry. ‘It also means gas and dust emissions should be kept to a minimum.’
Construction of the plant, located across six hectares of land, is scheduled to be completed in 2015.
‘Bioethanol is a product of national importance as it is destined to substitute imports and so help to strengthen our economy,’ adds Ukraine deputy prime minister Yuri Boyko.
