Memorandum of Understanding signed by Eni and Pertamina

Major oil and gas companies Eni and Pertamina have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The deal has been made to investigate synergies of their respective technologies, expertise and know-how. The evaluation of new circular economy collaboration opportunities that would make for strategic development for Eni and its subsidiaries, Syndial Environment and Versalis Chemicals, is also a part of the agreement.

The Memorandum of Understanding also agrees to explore opportunities to discuss collaboration in waste transformation processes and biomass valorisation processes. This will leverage Eni proprietary technologies such as Waste to fuel, Waste to hydrogen, Sewage sludge conversion into biomethane production by anaerobic digestion, Advanced biofuels from biomass and Chemicals from biomass.  

 

Both Eni and Pertamina are willing to discuss collaboration opportunities in low carbon and renewable energies development, according to a statement announcing the MoU.

Furthermore, the companies have agreed to explore and discuss collaboration in the field of recycle and re-use, water treatment and re-use processes and polymer recycling technologies. They will also aim to pursue eco-design processes in order to maximise final recycled products.

The MoU also states that Eni and Pertamina are to discuss cooperation and business opportunities in both Indonesia and international renewable projects.    

Also signed by both companies is a Heads of Agreement for a joint venture that hopes to construct an add on grassroots bio-refinery in Indonesia. Due to this joint venture, key terms of a Processing Agreement in Italian refineries have also been signed.
