KL Energy plant approved for federal programme

A pilot cellulosic ethanol plant in Wyoming, US, has won approval to take part in a new programme supporting the development of biofuels.

KL Energy is currently working on producing ethanol from wood chips, gathered from Black Hills National Forest on the Wyoming-South Dakota state line, at its test plant in Upton.

The new programme by the US Department of Agriculture is called Biomass Crop Assistance. The programme will help KL Energy with its feedstock costs at its Upton facility.

KL Energy’s CEO, Steve Corcoran, commented that the federal programme is an important incentive to potential partners and project developers in KL Energy’s biomass efforts.
