JV will commercialise biofuels from algae
Valero Services, a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation, and ethanol technology producer Algenol Biofuels are to embark on a joint development agreement.
The two companies are keen to manufacture biofuels and chemicals through the marriage of Valero’s expertise in the sector and Algenol’s Direct to Ethanol technology.
If all goes well the signed agreement could lead to a joint venture that would see full-scale production of biofuels from algae.
Algenol is also working with The Linde Group to develop CO2 capture and management technologies that will increase the production of biofuels made from algae.
