Funding opportunities lower US fossil fuel consumption

From 13 May until 6 July 2010 producers of cellulosic biofuels can now apply for funding under the Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels by submitting applications to the USDA Rural Development.

The aim of the Bioenergy Program for Advanced Biofuels is to provide fiscal support to biofuels producers based in rural areas in order to ensure continued development and consumption of advanced biofuels.

This funding programme goes hand in hand with the Obama Administration, which is working towards decreasing the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels by developing sustainable energy supplies.

Those second and third generation biofuels producers who fit the requirements and are therefore entitled to apply for the funding include corporations, partnerships, a group of organisations and non-profit entities, among others.

Advanced biofuels company New Energy Fuels located in Waller, Texas, US, has currently benefitted from the financial support. The biodiesel producer was awarded over $5,000 (€4,000) to continue the expansion of advanced biofuels production.

USDA Rural Development has a vision of improving the quality of life for the inhabitants of rural areas.
