Flint Hills Resources prepares for commissioning of Duonix biodiesel plant
Flint Hills Resources is preparing for the launch of its Duonix plant in Nebraska, US, is preparing to run pre-commissioning tests.
The 50 million gpy former Beatrice Biodiesel-facility is being retrofitted for multi-feedstock production using Benefuel’s catalytic process for refining high free-fatty-acid feedstock.
This is the first time the Benefuel technology will be used on this scale.
It is also the first time the plant will be commissioned, as the previous owner went bankrupt before starting operations.
Flint Hills Resources has notified the city of Beatrice, where the plant is located, that the pre-commissioning tests may cause some disruption, including loud noise and noticeable steam emissions.
