Flint Hills Resources builds portfolio with acquisition of Southwest Georgia Ethanol

Flint Hills Resources, a refining, chemicals and grain processing company, has signed an agreement with Southwest Georgia Ethanol to acquire its ethanol plant in Camilla in the US state of Georgia.

The plant opened in 2008 and is able to produce 100 million gallons a year of ethanol. It also produces more than 275,000 tonnes of dried distillers grains and approximately 25 million pounds of non-food grade corn oil annually.

This will be Flint Hills Resources' seventh ethanol plant and its fourth outside of the US Midwest.

The transaction is expected to close after customary closing conditions have been satisfied, including regulatory approvals. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

'The Camilla plant is a premier destination for corn in southwest Georgia,' comment Brad Razook, CEO and president of Flint Hills Resources. 'The plant is well-positioned for success and is supported by a professional and dedicated workforce.'

Flint Hills Resources' grain processing business currently includes six ethanol plants with a combined annual capacity of 650 million gallons, a biodiesel plant in Nebraska and investments in biofuels technology and feedstock development.
