Ethanol plant set for Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic-based W2E Resources will construct a plant to produce ethanol and electricity, transforming solid waste, including sugarcane bagasse, at a cost of around US$200 million (€158.5 million).

The company is undertaking the environmental impact study and engineering of the final draft, with construction expected to begin early next year, and around 24 months for the plant's startup.

The plant, to be operated in Guerra, will transform house waste into ethanol and electricity for Santo Domingo East, the areas of Boca Chica, Punta Caucedo Port and the airport.
