Ethanol demand at a record high

According to the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) the production of ethanol in 2010 is up compared to last year’s figures.

Data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) confirms that the production of ethanol has increased by 118,000 barrels per day (bpd) since January 2009 and reached approximately 818,000bpd in January this year.

The demand for this biofuel has also rocketed from 644,000bpd last year to 784,000bpd in January 2010.

EIA also reports fuel ethanol imports of 1.4 million gallons in January.
