EcoPlus to buy solid biofuel from Converse and Co.

In Berkeley County, South Carolina, US, coal brokerage firm Converse and Co. is currently developing a $4 million (€3.3 million) biofuels plant that, once completed later on this year, will use waste oil collected from eateries for the production of solid biofuel.

Now North Carolina-based waste-to-energy firm EcoPlus has signed a multi-year contract with Converse to purchase its biofuel, which can be used as a standalone coal replacement or co-fired with other fuels.

‘I am excited about the continued progress towards production and we have several industrial and utility customers that are equally excited about a viable renewable solid fuel option to co-fire in their coal units,’ said Justin Converse, chairman and CEO of Converse and Co.
