Demand for biofuels to double by 2015
Tammy Klein, executive director of global biofuels services for Hart Energy Consulting, stated that Asia-Pacific and Latin America would be capable of producing biofuels viewing it as a way to improve rural economies.
Klein says: ‘Currently, there is massive overcapacity on a global basis in the biodiesel industry and utilisation rates are generally below 50%. Present international biodiesel volume could already meet the demand of 10 billion gallons annually that is forecasted for 2015’.
Many countries that are currently blending biodiesel with B5 are starting to explore B7 and higher blends. Several European countries are looking to B7 and Indonesia is currently exploring B10.
