Coskata gets Total investment
Biology-based renewable energy company Coskata develops technology for the production of biofuels and biochemicals from biomass and waste materials and has now closed a round of equity financing with French oil major Total.
The oil and gas firm has invested in the round of equity financing and will have a seat on Coskata’s Board of Directors.
The investment will go towards helping Coskata produce bioethanol at a commercial scale as well as furthering the development of new product technologies.
A number of Coskata’s previous investors such as Blackstone Cleantech Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, Advanced Technology Ventures, Globespan Capital Partners, and Arancia are also involved in the deal.
‘This investment by TOTAL…confirms the potential of our technology platform and enhances our plans for commercial deployment,’ explained the president and CEO of Coskata Bill Roe. ‘Having a strategic investor with a long-term view of developing and advancing Coskata’s platform technology will strongly enhance our position in the biofuels and chemicals markets.’
