Chiyoda awarded FEED contract for new SAF facility

news item image
Chiyoda has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract to install sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facilities in Taiyo Oil's Okinawa operations.
Taiyo Oil is aiming to produce 200,000 kiloliters (kL) of SAF and renewable diesel annually using ethanol-to-jet technology on the premises of Taiyo Oil's Okinawa operations, contributing to the Japanese government's FY2030 SAF supply target, equivalent to at least 5% of GHG emissions of jet fuel produced and supplied in Japan in FY2019.
Taiyo Oil's SAF production project has been selected as a subsidised project under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Subsidy for Promotion of Transition to a Decarbonized, Growth-Oriented Economic Structure.
Chiyoda will apply its technical capabilities and 70-year experience in oil and gas plant engineering to conduct the FEED for implementing the facilities.
