China’s largest biogas project connects to grid

One of China’s largest biogas projects, the 20,000m3 Minhe biogas project in Shandong, is now successfully connected to the grid.

Minhe is the first Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project, which has been registered in Clean Development Mechanism Executive Board, United Nation's Framework Convention on Climate Change, with annual revenue of €0.6 million.

The project will handle 180,000 tonnes of animal waste; it will produce 10.95m3 of methane and 250,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser while generating 21.9 million Kwh of electricity.

China has 652 CDM registered projects in fields such as wind power, hydropower, biomass and landfill, which account for 34.8% of the total number worldwide.
