Canadian government invests in ethanol plant
The sum will be injected into Terra Grain Fuels' ethanol facility in the province under the federal government's ecoENERGY for biofuels programme.
Terra Grain Fuels ethanol plant in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan, currently has the capacity to produce 150 million litres of ethanol a year, using wheat as its primary feedstock.
The Government of Canada will invest up to C$1.5 billion over nine years through the ecoENERGY for biofuels programme, which was originally set up in July 2007.
The government's Economic Action Plan also dedicates C$1 billion to the Clean Energy Fund and C$1 billion for the Green Infrastructure Fund to provide additional economic stimulus while promoting a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Canadians, said the release.
