BioMCN and Sabic awarded ISCC

Biomethanol producer BioMCN and petrochemical company Sabic have been awarded International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for second generation biofuels.

Dekra conducted the certification process. 'Dekra has extensive experience in ISCC auditing, particularly in Germany, but this is the first ISCC certification for the Dutch market,' says Dekra sales manager Eric Evers.

Earlier this year the Renewable Energy Directive (RED) was introduced in the Netherlands, highlighting the nation's biofuel sustainability targets. It states that the Netherlands must reduce its CO2 emissions by 35% before this rises to 60% in 2018. The production of second generation biofuels will also increase.
